2011 Staatliche Weinbau. Trier Avelsbacher Hammerstein Riesling Auslese
Sweet Mosel Riesling Full of Exotic Fruit and Body
This racy auslese riesling is sweet with fine residual sugars and an enormous wealth of well integrated fruit. The fruit tones express many different exotic fruits including powerful melon and pineapple all the way through its long finish. This Mosel riesling is made from grapes grown on the specific vineyard tract called Avelsbacher Hammerstein with vines as old as 40 years. Its gold medal from the CERVIM International Wine Competition in 2012 was one of only 44 out of 601 total wines. This wine pairs well with an enormous list of foods but baked ham, dessert cakes, and almost all Asian or Mexican influenced dishes are great places to start.
